Lane Kiffin new USC Trojan coach

Postby Dossenator » Tue Jan 12, 2010 9:58 pm

Lane Kiffin is the new USC Trojan football coach according to Chris Low at ESPN. Here is the link (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4820737).

It says that he will be bringing his dad Monte Kiffin with him...along with Ed Orgeron.

Kiffin is probably the perfect guy to have while SC is on probation.  I sure they will have an easy time firing him when the time comes.

Not sure how the SC fans will take to this hire. They do get Ed Orgeron back (they really liked him), and they get Monte Kiffin to lead their defense (that is a good thing)....but Lane Kiffin is a clown.

Late this afternoon most local Southern Cal sports reporters on ESPN thought that Steve Mariuchi would be the next SEC coach...they did not even mention Lane Kiffin. Can't wait to hear the call in shows on Southern Cal ESPN radio tomorrow...should be fun.

Lane Kiffin isn't a good coach, but it looks as if his dad is going to turn him into a legend. Along with Monte they have Ed Orgeron and Norm Chow coming back too. That is an all star staff, one that Lane really doesn't deserve. WOW.

No matter how good the staff is if they get hit with sanctions....hard to get recruits to come in. I also think that Lane can still screw things up even with that great staff around him.

Just watched this video clip from a Tenn news station....they are reporting that while Lane was telling the Tenn players he was leaving that Ed Orgeron was talking to Tenn recruits in his office about going to USC....Tenn players turned their phones on and put it on speaker phone so others could hear. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPAJTGOS ... _embedded#). If this is true then Kiffin and company are a bunch of scumbags...really, while you are saying goodbye, in front of current Tenn players.....

Tenn is in total meltdown....100's students are rioting on campus (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zKkcfq3gec). I hope Kiffin has some body gaurds to get out of town?

I can't post the pics I viewed because of language content....let me just say the Tenn students are not happy with Kiffin.

There is also a youtube video of a Tenn fan taking out all of his Tenn stuff...pictures of Kiffin and pissing on the whole pile.

And ESPN said that Arkansas fans were crazy over the Houston Nutt situation....these Tenn fans definitely take the cake.

I just wonder how much truth there is with the sanctions. Norm Chow quit a job to come back. Monte Kiffin let his son burn some major bridges to take the job. Ed Orgeron, who could work about anywhere he wants, choose to follow Lane and Monte. Seems to me that the NCAA may not have as much as people think.

Did anyone hear about the Jack Del Rio job offer from USC?? Did Del Rio turn them down, or was this just hype?
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

Del Rio says he didn't get an offer - who knows.

According to the Southern Cal sports media: USC offered Jack Del Rio (he turned it down), they then offered (the Oregon State coach...can't think of his name now...he turned them down), then USC contacted Stever Mariuchi (not interested), and then had to settle on Kiffen. Who knows if they know what they are talking about or not.

I think Kiffin was there first choice.....USC did not have to settle....they are one of the schools that does not have to recruit....great potential players beg to go to a few schools, USC is one of them.

I will tell you the revival of a great rivalry..will now be UCLA and USC......those two coaches will absolutely pull out all stops to win....that has the potential to be a wild game.....
