I still say Mardy Gilyard should be in the running for that thing. He is every bit the player somebody like Desmond Howard ever was and he won the Heisman.

What about Kellen Moore, Case Keenum, and Toby Gerhardt? CJ Spiller is trying to make a push tonight too. Plus the ultimate dark horse, freshman Dion Lewis of Pitt.

I don't know. If we go by today. The guy who stood the tallest in the biggest day, then it would be next to impossible to not vote for Ingram. If you look at the season as a whole.....well let me say that it is very close. The Heisman isn't a forgone conclusion this year.

As un-Hesimanlike as the frontrunners looked today, Ingram looked just as unworthy last week in his team's big rivalry game even before getting injured. Lets not forget that.

I really think the media and hence most everyone else is focusing on the wrong guys. This year's winner if you look at consistency and ability to change or control a game should be Spiller, Gilyard, Moore, or Gerhardt. They were much more consistent week to week than any of the other guys mentioned in this thread. Plus, guys like Spiller and Gilyard are more multi-dimensional than the rest of the guys too. They just don't play for schools named Florida, Texas, or Alabama. I missed reading the rule where they said the winner had to come from a school that has one of the 15 or 20 most recognizable names and strongest traditions in the country.

Also above I left out guys like Lewis at Pitt because he is freshman (which isn't a good reason but probably factors in for the voters) and Keenum because he will be tagged as a "system QB". Still throwing 79 passes and having 529 yards in a conference title game should show how valuable you are.

I am not so sure that your performance in the last game of the year should be the defining moment for the Heisman, but apparently that is what the award has come to. I would guess it will be McCoy, but good be Ingram. I really don't care, either way.

Sometimes a good defense is the difference. I think you have to look at the whole season. I don't think you should take last year in consideration. LAst night's games should count also as part of the overall total and Ingram definitely was the one how come out ahead yesterday. Has he come out ahead in the season total - I don't know. I think I still vote for Colt, but Ingram has closed the gap and he is probably the top candidate going into next season.

Yes, which is why the winner is in question. I think Ingram jumped a lot in voters eyes. I still think it is McCoy in the end. He had a bad game, but he still got his team a chance.

Quite possible, and that really illustrates how ridiculous the award has become. This might have been a perfect year for a play like Suh from Nebraska to have won from the defensive side.

That is what the award is, but it has become the best player, either a QB or RB that is on a team with a good record.
