It is a very said day for Reds fans. Joe Nuxhall was the youngest player ever to pitch in the big leagues at 15 in 1944. He spent 16 seasons in the major leagues and because a radio broadcaster for the Reds for four more decades. He was the most beloved Cincinnati Red of all time. I spent a good part of my summers growing up listening to Joe call Reds games. At the ball park I always had my radio, in my grandpa's workshop, or on the back porch listen with my dad. So many memories of my childhood involve Joe's voice in the background. He was like a member of the family. He will be sorely missed.
Joe had a signiture sign off line that he ended every broadcast with - "This is the old left-hander rounding third and heading for home". Today Joe went home. RIP Nuxie.
