What Texas returns:

The receivers are all coming back again. Billy Pittman has really dedicated himself to being the best. He had some real setbacks last year, as the left side of his face became paralyzed one day when he woke up, crazy right. But he came on big time during the 7 on 7 sessions over the summer, and now is a premier receiver for the Horns.

Limas Sweed could really start pushing for All-American status this year. He is 6'5" and can really make some circus catches. Spence, I'm sure you still have nightmares of him making that catch on you guys. He was the play of the week one week. It was great ESPN quoting "We usually don't give the play of the week to a team that wins by this much for a play that wasn't even a touchdown". Limas made a one-handed-left-handed catch over his shoulder in double coverage, it was awesome!

Quan Cosby is going to be a 25 year old Freshman. He went to a really small high school and played professional baseball for a few years before deciding to come back and play football. He really came out as a dominant receiver in the Baylor game after Limas injured himself coming down on his shoulder after the one-handed-left-handed catch.

At tight end, we'll be missing David Thomas as much as Vince Young. I know everybody remembers VY in the Rose Bowl, but Thomas dominated his position more than Vince dominated at quarterback.

The Offensive Line again will be the best in the country. Yeah, there are going to be a few All-Americans again, but the guys are family. We lose two, but we have quite the litter of puppies waiting to bite.

At quarterback, as you all already know, is our big question, they're young, but they're no Young. Snead is amazing, a big quiet humble kid. If it weren't for Young, the whole country would be excited about him. He is fast and accurate. Colt McCoy is one of the most accomplished quarterbacks EVER from the lone star state. He played for a school called Tuscola Jim Ned, apparently they have something in the water, because I played that team in the playoffs as a junior in high school, and their quarterback single handedly demolished us. Colt has the advantage of being mentored by Vince Young, that's pretty priceless.

At runningback, wow, we're loaded. Imagine that, the University of Texas have a herd of great runningbacks. Jamaal Charles and Ramonce Taylor are THE two fastest runningbacks in college football next year. Both with styles all their own. Jamaal is my favorite kind of back, he never stops running. No matter what is happening, if the ball is in his hands, his feet never stop moving. Great footwork. Ramonce has the patience unlike any runningback, which compliments the Offensive line very well. Jamaal is more exciting to watch, but Ramonce just keeps waiting, and when that hole opens he kicks those legs into high gear. Ramonce runs a 4.3 40, which usually isn't a big deal anymore, BUT he also runs a 4.3 40 in PADS! Selvin Young gets the job done. Not that exciting of a runner, but you can't put a price tag on getting the job done. Then, we have the Texas Sized LenDale White, Big Ole Henry Melton. A 6'3" 275lb bruiser. He can plow people over, but he's also very graceful, he played a lot against teams in the 4th quarter, just running the ball up the middle over and over. Yet he would break em for big gains also. He's pretty unstoppable. He's the goalline/short yardage back, get that big ole boy behind our skilled, talented, and disciplined offensive line, and we get those first downs. When we went for it on 4th, with Selvin Young in, I was going crazy yelling at the TV, that was the first short yardage down that Henry Melton wasn't in on all year long, HM would've gotten the first.

Defense, we're losing some studs, but we're definitely reloading.

On the D-Line, we have Brian Orakpo, All-Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the year. He stepped up in a really really big way.

I honestly believe Sergio Kindle is going to contribute in a big way as a true Freshman.

Cedric Griffin is going to take the UT turn at being the all-american on the secondary. The kid can hit as hard as Quentin Jammer, and pick the football as well as Nathan Vasher. Cedric is the one that had the amazing pick in the title game.

Robert Killebrew is just a beast on the field. He's not as solid as Aaron Harris, but he is very big play capable. He's going to have some highlights on ESPN.

Aaron Ross, the dip that fumbled the punt, will be back, expect him to have multiple picks this season, he's as fast as they come.

Cedric also has a twin, that I'm sure will be just as good, he was second string all season, and that's gotta make him hungry.

The kicker position will be another big question mark, I think we'll be relying on a freshman, he's supposed to be really good, but he's a freshman.

We're gonna be good. I'll guaruntee that. :D :D :D

Crap, he did? I didn't hear about it. I'm kind of in the Winter Doldrums where I'm not as passionate about college football, so I don't follow my team as much.

Anyway, I just searched it, so he's at Alabama? He seemed allright to me. I didn't see that many ballhandling problems. I think the Tide just got themselves a darn good running back. I was hoping he'd stay at Michigan to create an amazing one-two punch to push us over the hump.

It must've been some non-football-related issues because I can't see any benefits in that situation. Now, Alabama and Michigan are about equal, but like you said, the Tide have so much more depth at running back where Martin wouldn't play. If it was for playing time, he probably made the wrong choice unless he can prove he can start. If he wants playing time, he should've transferred to a MAC school or something. Or a lesser conference team. I think he got demoted once Kevin Grady was promoted to second string running back. I don't even think Grady won the job over Martin, it was because Grady is the possible back of the future, he's a freshman.

Regardless, he's good.

yeah, if I were him I would stay at Michigan too. I like Michigan. I like Ohio St. too though. So that is probably like saying I like Alabama and Auburn which is impossible. I think I just respect them a lot actually-because they are great programs.

You can like both if your not a fan of either. Respect is probably a better word. All Ohio State fans hate Michigan, but most Ohio State fans respect Michigan. The rest are idiots.

I agree with you guys comments on Ohio State and ND. These are teams that will have holes to fill and they will probably get better as the season goes on. I really like the looks of West Virginia next year.

As far as my Akron team goes I think we'll be in the running for the division championship again. The defense should be stronger than this past year and we are returning most of the O-Line and 3,400 yard passer Luke Getsy. The big questions are at the other offensive skill positions. I think we will be bowl eligible again in 2006 but if we don't win the conference title I don't think we are popular enough yet to go to one of the bowls with MAC tie-ins. Still in that scenario we'll go to a bowl if enough conferences fall short of filling their tie-ins.

Eric, any early predictions on EMU? Personally I think they may be the most improved team in the league in 2006.

I think they'll be decent. They might be able to pull off an upset against a top MAC player. I think there will be a log jam at the bottom to the middle of the MAC with Ball State, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Kent State, and Buffalo.

I I already see 6 losses for the Eagles, and they have 3 games yet to fill. Western isn't going to bounce back right away, I'd look for them to make noise in 2007. Central, losing Kent Smith, once again, look for them to make noise in 2007. I hope CMU is patient and will give Brian Kelly another year because I think the Chips are on the verge of breaking out into one of these MAC powers as Miami OH and Bowling Green begin to fade, if in fact they do. I just don't have a lot of confidence in Shane Montgomery, and the Falcons would be fine if they find another QB. I was a bit suprised that Jacobs didn't stay in school to up his stock in the draft. He's probably going to be a 4th rounder, possibly a 2nd day pick.

Alabama has released a "pre-spring depth chart" which doesn't mean much, but they have moved guys everywhere. We have a guy that played linebacker in highschool, then was made a WR at Alabama is now moved to DE. What the heck? He is somewhat the right size, but I am not sure about that.

I get the linebacker to defensive end move, but the WR thing has to have you wondering about the coach.

230 is a little on the small side for a DE. Linebacker sounds like a better position for his size.

It could be he doesn't have good enough instincts to play linebacker. The DE position is one of the easiest to learn.

From what you've said, my guess is they are trying to make a rush end out of him.

You do play Florida don't you?? A good rush end will come in very handy when going against the spread.

It's hard to say what's gonna happen with Georgia. We dont know who the starting QB is gonna be, but im leaning toward Joe Tereshinski. There is also a guy named Blake Barnes that was one of the top QBs in the nation.

I also said the same thing last year before the season started. This was mainly because when we did see Shockley perform, he folded sometimes, and there were others he did better than David Greene (the winningest QB in college :-) ) The Sugar Bowl of Jan 03 against Florida State was a good example of his talent showing.

The defense is gonna be stronger and more experienced, but we also need to fire the defensive coordinator. He operates from the principle, that you run a vanilla defense and let the opponent show what they have. At face value that sounds good, but after your opponent has run up 14-21 points before you settle down, it's too late....The florida game was a perfect example of this. They scored 14 points right away, and then didnt even get near the end zone for the next 50 minutes of the game. The same thing happened with Auburn, that game was lost by one point. West Virginia was allowed to get out to a big lead, before the defense settled down. FIRE HIM!!

Im gonna say that we'll have no more than three losses and finish 3rd in the SEC behind Florida and Auburn. Meaning another trip to the Outback bowl.

Losses: Florida, GT, Auburn
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

I'd go with Blake Barnes. That is, unless you want a 7 win season with losses to most SEC powerhouses. I think Tereshinski would show a lot of repeat preformances like that against Florida. I don't think he'd be the best QB right now. Of course, I don't follow the Bulldogs as much as you, nor did I even watch the game between the 'Dawgs and the Gators. But judging from the highlights and his stats, they seemed to be missing D.J. Shockley A LOT
