Took off from the wrong runway. Well, if that isn't pilot error, I don't know what is. Guess I got out of their flight school just in time, 'eh?
Man, that sucks. Worst crash in 5 years.
Prayers go out to all those affected.

I take off from a runway that is roughly the same size as the one they took off from. The difference? My plane is 1/100th the size and only carries 4 people.
They have short runways like that because if you have a large runway, it's for the airline operations. If someone wanted to go fly in a small aircraft, they'd have to mix them in with the airliners. Usually a dangerous thing. At the last airport I flew out of we had 2 runways for airline operations, 2 runways for general aviation operations. Worked out nicely.

That reminds me of a joke (don't you guys take this inappropriately, given the cirucumstances).bama_girl wrote:that's bad.
they said the runway was too short.
what the heck are they doing with short run ways to start with?
i'm sure this is a dumb question to you but, sadly...i'm serious
Anyway, there's two 'idiots' flying a plane, I would call them Missouri fans, but discretion prevails.
Anyway, they are making preparations to land their plane at DIA, when they get the 'all clear.'
They make their approach, get their Cessna in landing 'mode' but soon discover they have limited 'clearance' so quickly apply full throttle, reverse to prevent an accident, and just barely keep the airplane from careening off the end.
One guy says to the other one: Gosh, these runways sure are short!
The other guy says "Yeah, but look how wide they are!".
My mom is a flight attendant for AirTran and she knew one of the pilots....He left AirTran to go to Delta...Dont know why, but it seems like a step down.
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.
The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.
See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

I'm sure it's unfounded, but after ValuJet Flight 592... eh. I'll pass.
AirTran is one of the safest in the air right now....They have all new planes. Nothing they are flying is over a few years old.
Their motto is "America's youngest Boeing fleet."

Yeah, well, if you remember, there was a 717 that crashed after they bought the new planes and changed names... why? Maintenance, just like all the other ValuJet crashes.
Just because they change planes doesn't mean they change maintenance personnel.
Give me another 5 years without a crash and I'll consider flying AirTran. But I get stand-by tickets on Delta, so I wouldn't really anyways haha.
