Tropical Storm Fay
I hope all the guys from Florida and their families are OK during the flooding from Fay. I have a buddy who lives in Melborne that says he has a couple of inches of water in his house. I hope no one here is going through that same ordeal.

Fortunate so far. I'm also in Brevard County and there's no doubt that we have seen a crazy amount of rain. Major roads are closed in many places just a mile or so south of us.

I heard this morning that the rain has subsided. Hopefully the water will fall as fast as it rose. Glad you are on high ground. Flood water is almost as distructive as fire.

Twenty inches in Tallahassee so far...and more to come all next week.
We have limbs and trees down, but are OK. We have a modern place in the woods with a two story living room with walls of glass on two sides looking down on a wooded ravine and Bear creek....so far, we have defied nature through a handfull of storms with no damage but I am always worried about all the glass exposure.
I just walked down the hill to my neighbors (we are up on a hill..a Florida size hill that is)....both of the neighbors downhill had water through the house from the creek that runs across the back of my property. Ruined the hardwood floors, sheetrock, carpet and may have warped cabinets...

We still have a lot of roads closed..some neighborhoods flooded...low spots and places near bodies of water are flooded...
Our power was off for an afternoon...that's great...one neighborhood is expected to be without power for two weeks.

Re: Tropical Storm Fay
I saw Tallahassee on the news. They got it pretty bad as well. Nature can be very distructive at times. We kind of think we can defy it, but it has a way of letting us know who the real force is in this world. We had a freezing rain storm about six years ago that knocked out power for over a month where we were and for almost three months in some places. People that weren't lucky enough to have backup power generators lost almost everything due to pipes bursting and water damage. Also it brought down lots of trees on houses. I saw one house that a tree fell right through. Not much you can do in situations like those, but pick up the pieces and start over.

It's good to hear that you guys are okay. The video from the storm on the news doesn't look all that good

I am glad you are all right. The news did not make it look very good.
