I do know that we have given away our responsibilities of democracy to people that continually betray us. So, I will vote for those people that give me back my responsibility to take care of myself and those that are around me. There is an old Indian story....I guess who knows about that...anyway....the Chief says to the young man, in our lives there are two wolves that are continually fighting, one represents good and the other evil. They will fight within you until there is a winner. The young man asks, "Who eventually wins?"

"The one you feed."

Time to quit feeding those that are destroying us. Immorality, like morality, knows no party boundaries.

We agree completely on this. Both parties have people focused on the wrong things to keep our eye off the ball. It is time we demand better or let the bottom fall out. I'm not saying that things won't get worse, they will get really bad, but that is what it takes to get people to really pay attention. We have to start depending on ourselves and our family.

My dad told me one time that if you can go through live and have friends that you can really count on you are a blessed man. Your family has to be the one that you depend on and who can depend on you. I think that is true.

I'm probably being hypocritical by saying this, but every election year I hear how bad the Republicans and Democrats are and how our government is corrupt and bad. Yet, and I'm not saying you guys are the problem, nobody really gets involved or does anything. The same people get voted back into power all of the time. I agree with Donovan, it's time to step up and take the government back. Do I know what that means either? Not exactly

You have to start by putting money and time behind people you believe in. The ones you actually have on your voting ticket. I can complain about guys like Barney Frank or Charles Schumer but I can't do a darn thing about them. I can do something about the people who represent me at the local, state, and federal level. Until we start getting rid of the bad people that represent us, we have no impact. We can help put in people we believe to be good and if they disappoint then it is up to us to work just as hard to get them voted out. You can also help by getting involved in your local community (not saying you do not) and try to solve problems on a local level. That can be done through volunteering, public service, or putting people who aren't working to work and training them to be productive. The more we do at home, on our own without federal or even state funding, the less power they will have on our lives. In other words we have to close the open hand. That is why the federal government has control over the states, that is why the states have control over the local government. When we stop taking money from them we are free from them. Easier said then done, but that is how you make government smaller.

We need guys whose service to their country doesn't include how much money he can bring back to his district over what they pay in taxes. We need to take responsibility for ourselves and our family. We need to hold people up that do take responsibility and look down on those who do not. We need to cut loose people who aren't trying and help those (personally, in some way) who are trying and haven't quite figured out how yet. I support locally helping people who are in need. If someone has a fire and the insurance isn't enough to cover it. We could jump in and physically help that guy get back on his feet. Not cry about how the government isn't helping. I support civic responsibility. I just don't want the government forcing it on me. It starts with each of us.
