The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America

When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. â€â€

Nice post MM. Everyone should take a look at the Declaration of Independence every once in a while. When they do, they should think about the guts it took to sign and send it. That is what this country is all about. Leading, even when in isn't a popular or safe choice.

We have a county named after Button Gwinnett....Gwinnett County.

It's so good to read this occasionally and see what great men, founded this country. They were so much smarter than we are now. :(

I don't know if they were smarter, but they definitely had more backbone. It isn't that the politicians now don't know how to change things, they just don't have the guts required for the job.

by throwing in the line: All men are created equal, the US has been able to alleviate racism and sexism more than any other time in the history of the world. That's a beautiful thing.

Powerful words, Yeofoot .... it's taken a while and we've still got a ways to go, but not as far as when we started.
