ECU selling bowl tickets...and they are not in a bowl game?

Postby Dossenator » Thu Dec 15, 2011 12:37 pm

Here is the story. Just crazy. Who in their right mind would by a ticket to a fake event? I guess ECU fans.

At least the teams and bands will be present for that event.

What genius...sell tickets to a bowl that's not a bowl...a game that's not a game...almost like last year's Fiesta Bowl.

Personally, I'm betting not many ECU fans have an IQ low enough to fall for such a blatant money grab.

and, $50 no less, big stones there for thinking that one up; I hope the fans kick them in those stones by NOT buying into this silly idea.

Where I am from selling tickets to a fake bowl is fraud.

Probably won't have to contend with scalpers.

Seems absolutely ludicrous...at first. But might well be ingenious. With the Bowl Season aligning with the year's end it is probably a really good way to remind folks that their Pirates take hand-outs too...of the 1040 type. I slightly prefer this method of bummery over the impromptu red light window washing method. And I highly prefer this over the Fed's Earned Income Credit form of charitable contributions to under and non-working Americans. (I know Christmas, and thereby, Gubmas is drawing near when I see "the poor" shopping for iPhones, Laptops, Flat Screens, and Cars. Socia Claus gives and gives some more.)

I don't recall ever seeing the ECU mascot. Now I am not sure if they use a student or order one from Chip 'n Dales?!?!

This is pure marketing genius IMO.

#1 They get $50 to go towards a basketball building

#2 They get to show the NCAA, look at how many tickets we sold for a game that doesn't even exist. Don't leave us out in the future.
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

It also says something about the IQ of their fanbase, paying $50 for a non existent bowl game.

As a fan, I would look at it as purely a $50 donation to my schools athletic department, and I would get a ticket as keepsake. Oh, and BTW, I wouldn't be ordering any tickets.
