Ohio State and Oklahoma to hook up.

Postby Spence » Sat Aug 05, 2006 10:38 am

Games set for 2016-17 home and home. That is the kind of matchups I hoped for in adding a 12th game.

It is always good to hear of these games. Too many Kansas States and Minnesotas who chicken out and schedule UL Monroe and Eastern Illinois. Oklahoma and Ohio State deserves a lot of credit for not chickening out of a high-profile game.

Got to hand it to the Sooners....they have scheduled FSU and Miami for H&H's as well....

On the good side Ohio State has upcoming games with Washington, USC, Miami(FLA),California, Virginia Tech, and Oklahoma.

On the not so good side we have, Youngstown St., Army,Troy, and Ohio U.

In the middle, Nothern Illinois, Marshall, Toledo, and Cincinnati.

I don't mind the lower D-1A games, but why Tressel feels the need to play Youngstown St. amazes me. They can only hurt us in the polls. It will be a paid scrimmage. I know Ohio State likes to play in state schools and spread the money around, but there are enough D-1A Ohio schools without taking on 1-AA Youngstown St. They have no business playing each other.

Agreed .... I like the attitude .... scheduling matchups like these tells me that neither is trying to sneak in the side or back door .... if they get there, they're coming right through the front.

I have heard that Ohio State is trying to work something out with Nebraska and West Virginia also, but no word on the progress.

I'd like to make the trip to Oklahoma four years from now when FSU visits...but if not, I'll watch the Sooners in Tallahassee the next year.

Currently the Mountaineers have a very good program. Their stated intentions are to take the next step and becoming an elite program.

There's some things that have to be addressed before that can happen and playing elite programs(and winning those games) during the regular season is one of them.

If the schools take advantage of the 12th game and go schedule great matchups like the ones we are talking about here it will be good for college football. I don't like the david and goliath type match ups. I see no good reason for a D-1A team to play a 1-AA school.

FSU and Miami have always played good OOC schedules. The FSU policy of anywhere, anytime has help the rest of the CFB world see the advantages of playing these sorts of matchups. They are good for the game IMO.

My time with Legion baseball for this year is over.
Worked 40 games this summer.

One team from area 5 is still alive as they won the State title.

Area 5 has 17 teams in the program. All from Lincoln.

7 teams in the Sr.div.nd 8 in the Jr div.
