Underrated Players

Postby Eric » Wed Apr 12, 2006 11:01 pm

If you'd like to nominate somebody, go right ahead, but my pick is Rocky Schwartz (S for Houston). I've seen the guy play in about 3 or 4 games, and until the preview for the Cougs came out, I completely forgot about him. He is a warrior out there, and I love his style of play.

If I had to pick one more, maybe Ricky Santos of New Hampshire. He probably wouldn't be good enough to start at a large school, but he can throw!

Nick Mangold, Center, Ohio State. He made the calls on the line and a big reason for the year Troy Smith had last year. Most of the time when a Rb or QB have a great year they owe it to the OL. No one new how good Mangold was until he started working out for the pro scouts. He is projected as going in the first round. He will be missed more then any Buckeye fan can imagine this year.

I hope the Lions take a look at him. Is he projected to go early in the 2nd round? Hopefully, because I think Miranelli knows what he's doing, so I think he would take Mangold should he drop down that far.

Pittsburgh in the 1st. is what we are hearing. Ohio State has 6 possible 1st. rounders.

AJ Hawk
Santonio Holmes
Donte Whitner
Bobby Carpenter
Ashton Youboty
Nick Mangold

Looks like 4 for sure if Nick gets in.

Whitner was very underated also, he made all the defensive calls.

I really liked Mangold before the workout. Greg Eslinger is probably the best center in the nation, but I wouldn't mind either on my team.

Max Jean Gilles....

Yes, I know he's a dawg, but arent we all biased. :D
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

New Hampshire has an awesome offense. Do you really think Santos can make the NFL as a backup? I was really suprised when New Hampshire was beat in Durham by Northern Iowa. I thought that the Wildcats were going to win the whole thing.

I just read an article on http://www.i-aa.org/, and it talked about New Hampshire's offense. It said something about Ball approaching Jerry Rice stats for 1-AA recieving records

Oh, man, don't remind me of that! That happened the very week after Michigan State and Damon Dowdell lost at Rutgers :(

Watch for Darren McFadden, running back from Arkansas. Last year as a true Freshman in the SEC he rushed for over 1000 yards and did not play any significant amount until about the 4th game of the year.

Yeah, he's an awesome running back. I didn't get a chance to watch him until they got massacred by USC on Fox Sports. I'm an Arkansas guy, so I was really tuned into him this year. He played very well for a freshman, maybe if Mitch Mustain can take the Razorbacks to the next level, he might be a Heisman contender.
