Schools Cutting Sports?

Postby Derek » Fri May 16, 2025 4:48 pm

I think we've all long felt that smaller schools were going to be the most hurt by turning collegiate sports into the minor leagues. But Kirby Smart had some strong words about it.

"I just want to be able to have a freshman come in and not make more than a senior and I'd like for other sports to be able to still survive," Smart continued. "You know, we're on the brink of probably one to two years away from a lot of schools cutting sports"

That's a pretty bold prediction with 1-2 years....
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

It’s all about finance, legal risks and potential liabilities….. :?

”We’re already in a time where the on-field aspect of College Football is almost a distraction. It’s an era filled with handwringing about player empowerment, NCAA deregulation, the transfer portal and realignment all while the sport generally moves toward a professional model.” ~ Dennis Dodd

This has been my issue the whole time. Kids who use college athletics to pay for school. My kid is one of them. Her sport hasn't been canned yet, but it is a non revenue sport so it is likely to be high on the chopping block.
