”We’re already in a time where the on-field aspect of College Football is almost a distraction. It’s an era filled with handwringing about player empowerment, NCAA deregulation, the transfer portal and realignment all while the sport generally moves toward a professional model.” ~ Dennis Dodd

I am guessing that the problem with commitment has to do with them already having a plan.

Personally, I do not believe in convenient coincidence ...
And with the Big 10 / SEC coalition, along with the future of the Playoff Negotiations unresolved, this article seems a little too advantageous in its timing:

That may help explain this veiled threat……….
Asked if he was committed to the CFP beyond 2025, Sankey said, “Yep, but we’ve got a lot to get right. The commitment is we want to see this get right.”

Indeed the peculiarity of outcome befalls its beneficial concordance upon the Power Conferences ...
I don't think any of us didn't think this was going to be their obvious preferred format. Trimming off another minor conference by annexing the money schools from a competitor and seizing more bracket opportunities.
At this point, we could write their playbook for them with astounding accuracy.

These guys scoff at anyone with pointed ears who decried, “The needs of the many outweigh the the needs of the few. Or the one.”
It’s become about the money……… not to be misconstrued to mean the money received on the backend of winning titles and playoff shares, but instead it’s about the having money on the front end to buy the talent.
College Football is not on a level playing field. It’s more akin to the Roman Coliseum where the Christians armed with a stick versus the Lions armed with size, fangs, and claws.
Simply put, if you ain’t got the money to buy the talent, you just don’t matter.
