It’s National Signing Day……….

Postby Mountainman » Wed Dec 20, 2023 3:24 pm

…….. a day when a constellations of new stars make their ‘commitments’ to colleges and universities across the nation, but it ain’t what it used to be.

Nowadays it reminds me of a story about an old Wizard who had retired to the peace and quiet of countryside living where he lived and raised vegetables in his garden. One day a rabbit showed up at the Wizard’s home, and the Wizard, being the kind soul he was, welcomed the rabbit, but told the rabbit that under no circumstance was he to eat any of the vegetables from his garden. He cautioned the rabbit that if he did, there would be consequences.

Everything went well for a week or so until one day the Wizard caught the rabbit hopping around in his garden sampling and eating the vegetables. The Wizard scolded the rabbit and told the rabbit that if he caught him again in his garden that he would cast a spell on the rabbit and turn him into a Goon!!!!!

Things went well for a few days until one morning the Wizard looked out his window and sure enough, the rabbit was again in his garden……. and being true to his word, he cast his spell and turned the rabbit into a Goon.

And the moral of the story is……. Hare today, Goon tomorrow.

It is very different compared to the past. There is the money thing, that is crazy, especially before a kid plays a down. There is also the fact that if a kid doesn't make the field as fast as he used to he just leaves. No more learning from the upper classmen. No more developing and becoming a great player. It is a weird environment.
