…….just how in the HELL can Alabama be #6 in the CFP Rankings with TWO LOSSES, to Tennessee and LSU and a schedule with the likes of Louisiana Monroe,Utah State, Austin Peay, Vanderbilt and Texas A & M………

I agree. This is the worst team Bama has fielded in many years and yet they are still that high.

And while I don't think it's "fair" for them to be ranked ahead of Tenn...you have to remember that their QB is out for the season, so Bama would not lose to TN again.

Teams that do not win their conference should not be considered for the playoff. I don't care if they "look" better than some teams who did win their conference or if they draw more fans.

I do agree, however, that is the reason they worded the criteria the way they did ...

Best Four teams; which is purely speculation & conjecture, leaves the door open to the committee to put whomever they, or the governing persuading body, chooses as the Four Best.

There is no true measuring stick, only the dynamic of what took place throughout the season.

It serves the Pac-12 well, that Oregon is not facing Utah for the conference title game.
Otherwise the bias lean would hold the metric of: Oregon -46 to Georgia + Utah -3 to Florida

If USC wins, then they are assuredly in.

The same can be said for TCU. Though some are already saying TCU could still potentially get in, if they lose to Kansas State; which again goes to the point of not winning your conference.

As I recall, Alabama missed a chip shot field goal with little time remaining at the end of regulation that would have won the game, instead the Vols won it in O/T, so the head to head between those to is a pick-‘em……. I’m just looking at the Tide and questioning their spot a # 5.

I mean in addition to their weak schedule and their 2 losses, their wins were against Auburn finished 5 - 7, Ole Miss finished 8 - 4, Mississippi State finished 8 - 4, Arkansas finished 6 x 6, and Texas finished 8 - 4…….. and that’s not impressive to me.

But, I know, I know……. It’s all about the money……… that comes from ESPN, who gets those dollars from product or service commercials who’s worth is calculated by TV viewers watching the games. And the fact is Alabama is a good TV draw. So lookout TCU and Southern Cal…….. the Buckeyes and Tide are waiting in the wings.

Actually, the game ended in regulation ...

Alabama missed a 50 yard FG with 15 seconds left in the 4th quarter.

Tennessee still had 2 Timeouts remaining, and got within range, to kick a 40 yard FG as time expired.

Crazy thing, the Tennessee kick was even tipped by an Alabama defender, by a finger. Gotta wonder if that had changed the trajectory just enough in the Vols favor.

Even still, the refs had a direct hand in the outcome of the Texas game ...

Bryce Young was clearly being sacked in the end zone, and threw the ball away. Should have been called a safety.

Instead, the Refs called Targeting on Texas. The review booth found no Targeting, but did not even mention the question of a Safety.

Alabama was able to kick a game winning FG, to win the game by 1 point.

If Texas gets the safety, they have +2 points, and get the ball back, with opportunity to score.

That one call literally changed the outcome of the game.

Alabama has had the refs in their pockets for quite some time. Not literally obviously, I don't believe there is impropriety. But the term 'media darlings' is a thing.

I will never be agreeable to have two teams from the same conference make the playoffs as long as every conference winner doesn't have a seat at the table.
