Now here's one I didn't see coming ...

Miami hires Charlie Strong as the new Linebackers Coach.

There were calls for Strong to be the next D-Coordinator from some of the fans, 2 years ago. But nobody was taking that seriously.

Here, we hire another former Head Coach as a Positions Coach.

We certainly need help in development at Linebacker. Charlie may very well be the man.

Appears they’ve got things going down in Coral Gables. With administration, coaches, staff, and finances in place and committed, now in comes down to getting the players.
The turnaround on that front may be shorter than it was pre Transfer Portal and NIL.

I think that is a good hire.

Getting to a closer full staff ...

Miami hires Rod Wright as Defensive End Coach.

Wright is coming in from Texas San Antonio, where he was Co-Defensive Coordinator.

Last season the Road Runners went 12-2, with a Conference Championship win.

Texas San Antonio led their conference in sacks, for 2021, as well as set a new school record for sacks. And had the player with the most sacks, in conference [Clarence Hicks].

To note his playing credit; Rod Wright won Big 12 Freshman of the Year in 2002, National All American as a Starting Defensive End for the 2005 Texas Longhorns, who beat USC for the National Championship.

He's coached guys up, and had players drafted into the nfl.

This, to me, is a great hire. He's not just a success on paper, guy.

He's worked his way up, from Sam Houston State to ECU to UTSA as Run Game Coordinator and D-Line Coach, eventually being promoted to Co-DC.

Now he's getting his chance as position coach in the Power5.
