What Texas returns:
The receivers are all coming back again. Billy Pittman has really dedicated himself to being the best. He had some real setbacks last year, as the left side of his face became paralyzed one day when he woke up, crazy right. But he came on big time during the 7 on 7 sessions over the summer, and now is a premier receiver for the Horns.
Limas Sweed could really start pushing for All-American status this year. He is 6'5" and can really make some circus catches. Spence, I'm sure you still have nightmares of him making that catch on you guys. He was the play of the week one week. It was great ESPN quoting "We usually don't give the play of the week to a team that wins by this much for a play that wasn't even a touchdown". Limas made a one-handed-left-handed catch over his shoulder in double coverage, it was awesome!
Quan Cosby is going to be a 25 year old Freshman. He went to a really small high school and played professional baseball for a few years before deciding to come back and play football. He really came out as a dominant receiver in the Baylor game after Limas injured himself coming down on his shoulder after the one-handed-left-handed catch.
At tight end, we'll be missing David Thomas as much as Vince Young. I know everybody remembers VY in the Rose Bowl, but Thomas dominated his position more than Vince dominated at quarterback.
The Offensive Line again will be the best in the country. Yeah, there are going to be a few All-Americans again, but the guys are family. We lose two, but we have quite the litter of puppies waiting to bite.
At quarterback, as you all already know, is our big question, they're young, but they're no Young. Snead is amazing, a big quiet humble kid. If it weren't for Young, the whole country would be excited about him. He is fast and accurate. Colt McCoy is one of the most accomplished quarterbacks EVER from the lone star state. He played for a school called Tuscola Jim Ned, apparently they have something in the water, because I played that team in the playoffs as a junior in high school, and their quarterback single handedly demolished us. Colt has the advantage of being mentored by Vince Young, that's pretty priceless.
At runningback, wow, we're loaded. Imagine that, the University of Texas have a herd of great runningbacks. Jamaal Charles and Ramonce Taylor are THE two fastest runningbacks in college football next year. Both with styles all their own. Jamaal is my favorite kind of back, he never stops running. No matter what is happening, if the ball is in his hands, his feet never stop moving. Great footwork. Ramonce has the patience unlike any runningback, which compliments the Offensive line very well. Jamaal is more exciting to watch, but Ramonce just keeps waiting, and when that hole opens he kicks those legs into high gear. Ramonce runs a 4.3 40, which usually isn't a big deal anymore, BUT he also runs a 4.3 40 in PADS! Selvin Young gets the job done. Not that exciting of a runner, but you can't put a price tag on getting the job done. Then, we have the Texas Sized LenDale White, Big Ole Henry Melton. A 6'3" 275lb bruiser. He can plow people over, but he's also very graceful, he played a lot against teams in the 4th quarter, just running the ball up the middle over and over. Yet he would break em for big gains also. He's pretty unstoppable. He's the goalline/short yardage back, get that big ole boy behind our skilled, talented, and disciplined offensive line, and we get those first downs. When we went for it on 4th, with Selvin Young in, I was going crazy yelling at the TV, that was the first short yardage down that Henry Melton wasn't in on all year long, HM would've gotten the first.
Defense, we're losing some studs, but we're definitely reloading.
On the D-Line, we have Brian Orakpo, All-Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the year. He stepped up in a really really big way.
I honestly believe Sergio Kindle is going to contribute in a big way as a true Freshman.
Cedric Griffin is going to take the UT turn at being the all-american on the secondary. The kid can hit as hard as Quentin Jammer, and pick the football as well as Nathan Vasher. Cedric is the one that had the amazing pick in the title game.
Robert Killebrew is just a beast on the field. He's not as solid as Aaron Harris, but he is very big play capable. He's going to have some highlights on ESPN.
Aaron Ross, the dip that fumbled the punt, will be back, expect him to have multiple picks this season, he's as fast as they come.
Cedric also has a twin, that I'm sure will be just as good, he was second string all season, and that's gotta make him hungry.
The kicker position will be another big question mark, I think we'll be relying on a freshman, he's supposed to be really good, but he's a freshman.
We're gonna be good. I'll guaruntee that.
