I would be against automatic qualifiers too if playing against teams from out of conference had outcomes like this year. In all seriousness if you have a team or a couple teams that qualify from the top of their conference, you at least know they were the better teams from their conference. You have no idea how they would fair against competition from other conferences. You may think you know, but you don't. Otherwise we wouldn't need to play the games. Just let the number one seed have the trophy.

Pretty obvious to a simple kind of guy, like me, that these committees and computers gotta go. There’s just too much subjectivity and diversity, equity, and inclusion thinking, along with personal agendas and TV influence factoring into the selection and seeding process.

I say keep the game on the field and take the top 4 teams from each of the four conferences……. and if there’re disputes or ties or whatever let the conferences work it out.

Ones vs fours, twos vs threes, winners advance.

I agree. I don't have a problem with even 8 teams or 12 as long as the AQ's are split among conferences. That would give pause to teams jumping conferences for the extra cash and make the "lesser" conferences (money wise) be able to negociate better deals and keep kids from entering the portal for a realistic shot at the playoffs and a NC. I am getting getting tired of hearing the deserving argument. Whether you are one of the best teams or not if you can't make the top 2 or 3 teams in your conference sorry about your luck. And I know that would have discluded Ohio State last year. At least if they took 8. I don't care. Any team can get hot at the end of the year and make a run. Good for the team that does, but make it a objective set of rules to qualify. Forget the polls, or SOS or conference subjectivity. You are likely only padding a conference's share of the kitty by letting the lower teams in anyway. Most years anyway.
