From The Recruit Himself ...

Postby Cane from the Bend » Thu May 15, 2025 3:37 pm

Miami lands the #1 Recruit in the Country ...

6ft 8in. Jackson Cantwell, Leftside Offensive Tackle.

All the rumors are circulating about ""Highest Bidder"" syndrome.

Seems that is always the excuse when someone else loses out.

So, what does Cantwell have to say about it :arrow: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgGUuDcHy-Q

You tell me.

Was it just about the money?

Cause, the 4 hats that were on the table at his commitment announcement, were Georgia, Miami, Ohio State and Oregon.

If you think Uncle Phil wasn't ponying up in Eugene, then you might've been out staring at the clouds to long.

Of coarse money was a factor, but not the only factor…….. the kid simply preferred the sunshine and beach bunnies instead of carrying an umbrella amongst ‘far out’ liberals chanting and carrying signs.

Truth!!
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

$ 2,000,000 Anually...Miami bought the kid.

Miami as a private institution, does not declare NIL contracts to the public ...

The $2 million nonsense is just that. Those reporting it, have no real source, other than article clickbait.

The only indicator on how much was offered, is quoted as: "All offers were comparable."

But, I get why people want to believe it was a bought and purchased transaction.

Sour grapes are not a delicacy for flavor :wink:

What I can say, which is purely hearsay, though, I feel confident in those I consider On the Inside.

$1.2 million but not north of that.

Oregon was supposed to be in the running as the big threat. Mainly due to their Track Program being among the elite, and Cantwell's two sport recruitment, as he is a National Contender in High School Shot Put & Discus.

Turns out the late visit to Georgia was a paid visit by the University. {$5,000 for him to take the trip}

Seems as though that is a new common practice, where schools are trying to get the last official by anteing up.

And if that is true, the old adage of, "Having the final Visit" as a recruiting advantage before commitment, is no longer as valued as we have been led to believe.

I believe that's the reason Petrino has such a difficult time winning in Miami Gardens. 8)
