Today is D-Day Anniversary

Postby billybud » Mon Jun 06, 2011 2:51 pm

Sixty seven years ago, a little after midnight, my dad flew in paratroopers to jump into Normandy in the wee hours before the invasion. Their plane was hit by AA fire and carried on with one engine and dropped their troopers on the DZ near St. Mere Iglise. The plane was low and couldn't turn to follow their exit path with the rest of the troop carriers and they made a wide and very low loop to their left. The plane went down east of St. Mere Iglise.

The survivors, in the midst of German troops, hid in a ditch throughout the night and the next day before carrying their wounded and searching for the Allies while dodging the Germans.

Here's to the guys who invaded Europe 67 years ago.

Cheers to the greatest generation!!
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.
