We should recognize the tragedy at the World Trade Center in 2001. Peace be with all who lost family and friends to that vicious attack.

Too easy to let that slip from our minds on a Saturday around here. Indeed, peace with all of those directly affected, and prayers for our troops who still fight overseas trying to prevent a similar occurrence in the future.

I won't get into politics and opinions either way about the man, not here, but Bush did lead for us then. I hadn't heard or read this in nine years, but in reflection it still holds as a calming and morale boosting address.

Before the attack I looked at Sept. 11 as the day Pete Rose beat Ty Cobbs all time hit record. That made it a better day for me.

Prayers to all those who still live in the shadow of that fateful day.
Government exists to protect us from each other. Where government has gone beyond its limits is in deciding to protect us from ourselves.
