Good Samaritan to be sued!

Postby WoVeU » Sun Dec 21, 2008 12:20 pm

Thoughts on this. When I first heard it some time ago...I thought it rather ridiculous. But the one thing in this case is the paralysis that makes me think it has merit. You have to at all costs avoid this, and most people I see respond to accidents (regular people) are aware of this.

I really don't want some clown puling me from my car if I have been in a major collision! (Thinking it may catch fire is often times induced by Hollywood movie outcomes.) That is the only way I'd pull someone from a bad crash, there would have to be gas leaking and a potential ignition source noted. But I know this is not necessarily easy to ascertain. If the victim was responsive they'd have to give me verbal agreement.

I do think for anything else, broken ribs or other injuries from an attempted CPR is just stupid! The paralysis from a serious fall, crash, or some other impact trauma is the only thing I can think of where a citizen should think twice before jumping into action!
Government exists to protect us from each other. Where government has gone beyond its limits is in deciding to protect us from ourselves.
If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
