The Big Game: UL vs.UK

Postby Swamp Daddy » Thu Dec 27, 2012 12:04 pm

This Saturday UL and UK meet here in Louisville for the annual bragging rights rivalry game. Our best chance to beat UK in the last 4 years. Center Gorgui Deing back from a broken wrist for this game.

Well, tomorrow is the big day around here. Looking forward to this game.

My prediction is UL by 10 to 15. :P

Game went as I expected. 8 point lead at the half. Then the lead built to 17 points in the second half. At which point some silly fouls (common this year) put Siva and Dieng on the bench. Defensive pressure slacked off leaving otherwise ineffective Wiltjer wide open at the 3 point line. He sunk 2 oe 3 in a row. So, did others, the game fell apart and UK got to within 3 with a couple of minutes to go.

UL rebounds and fast breaks built it back to 9. UK 3's and free throws brought it back to 4 point margin, then 6. A last 3 brought UK to within 3 again with a few seconds to go. UL held on to squeak out a win. Whew !

UL had one of the rare sweeps of this rivalry winning both football and basketball in the same season over UK.

I was a nice game, congrats on beating your rival.
