The new season truly under way

Postby Swamp Daddy » Sun Nov 25, 2012 1:07 pm

The basketball team went to the Bahamas for a tournament called the Battle for Atlantis. I think UL really likes the 4 hour trip there instead of the 3 day trip to Maui or to Alaska. Won two games and our big man injured his wrist. In the final we played Duke to the wire and with a few less Dukie foul calls might have won anyway.

Duke practices drawing fouls; and, they are good at it. Most refs. give them plentyof underserved ones anyway. Of, I'm not complaining as we had a few too. But Duke also must do a lot of practice at making those easy fouls too. They whipped us good at the free throw line both in the number of fouls they got and the percent they made; and, that was the "big" difference in the game.

We will get a lot better; so will they. Should be some interesting times during the tournament later this year.

For a change we made a few 3-pointers; but, not nearly what they did. In rebounding we killed them and will probably stuff most teams this way. A bit like last year.

Looking forward to the season, Swamp Daddy

UL went on the road tonight to the College of Charleston which had beaten a couple of good teams and lost to a couple. Louisville gave them the super press right from the start and turned them over like a high school team (and turnovers are their weakness). Lead by 20 at the half.

The second half was much the same but easier as CofC simply wore out as all UL regulars got lots of time. Walkons played last 3 minutes and the final ws 80 - 38.
