Fairleigh Dickinson-LIU Brooklyn

Postby BYUfan1 » Fri Feb 24, 2012 4:41 am

It may not have been the rout that many expected, but the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds disposed of the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights 91-80. The Knights were at home but were a huge underdog as FDU came into the game with one conference win while the Blackbirds had 15. For the game, LIU Brooklyn shot 46% (36-77) from the field while FDU shot 47% (36-77). The biggest differences in the game came from free throw shooting, 3-point shooting, and fast break points. The Blackbirds made 6-of-20 from long distance and 25-of-29 from the free throw line while the Knights made just two of their 12 shots from long distance and 6 of their 11 attempts from the charity stripe. LIU Brooklyn won the battle of fast break points 20-8.

Juniors Jamal Olasewere and Julian Boyd had huge nights for LIU. Olasewere registered 24 points and 8 rebounds while Boyd stuffed the stat sheet with 21 points and 20 rebounds. C.J. Garner chipped in with 19 points and 5 assists for the Blackbirds while point guard Jason Brickman dished out 13 assists while only turning the ball over just 2 times. Melquan Bolding made 8 of his 16 shots from the field on his way to scoring 21 points for FDU. Kinu Rochford achieved a double-double for the Knights by registering 14 points and 12 boards. The Blackbirds are now 22-7 and 16-1 in the Northeast Conference while the Knights fall to 2-26 overall and 1-16 in conference play.
