Mississippi Valley State-Texas Southern

Postby BYUfan1 » Tue Feb 21, 2012 11:08 am

Center/Forward Paul Crosby hit a 3-pointer as time expired to propel the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils to a 56-53 win over the Texas Southern Tigers. The win clinched the regular season title in the SWAC for the Delta Devils. Mississippi Valley State is now 15-0 in conference play and 16-11 overall. The Delta Devils went on a 16-0 early in the second half to take a 43-33 lead. Texas Southern's Omar Strong made all three free throws after being fouled on a 3-point attempt to tie the game at 53 with 1:20 left. Neither team shot well as the Delta Devils shot 32% (18-56) from the field while the Tigers shot 31% (18-58).

Crosby finished the game with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Terrence Joyner was the actual star of the game for the Delta Devils as he registered 17 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Strong was only 4-of-15 from the field for the Tigers but finished with 15 points and 3 assists. The Tigers fall to 10-16 overall and 9-5 in conference play.
