Vermont-Stony Brook

Postby BYUfan1 » Mon Feb 13, 2012 12:26 pm

Freshman Four McGlynn scored a career-high 24 points to lead the Vermont Catamounts to a 68-49 victory over the Stony Brook Seawolves. Vermont led from beginning to end but hit a rough spot after taking a 21-9 lead. The Catamounts went 7:43 in the first half without a point to allow Stony Brook to trail just 23-22 at the half. The lead opened up again after Vermont went on a 13-0 run when the Catamounts were ahead 35-30. Stony Brook missed on all of their 15 attempts from 3-point range and shot just 33% (17-51) overall from the field. Vermont shot 48% (22-46) from the field and 47% (9-19) from long range. The Catamounts also converted on 15 of their 18 free throw attempts in the game.

McGlynn was 4-of-7 from beyond the arc and 7-of-12 overall. Matt Glass chipped with 13 points, and Brandon Bald added 12 points for Vermont. Dallis Joyner had 13 points in the losing effort for the Seawolves. Vermont is now 17-10 overall and 11-2 in the America East Conference. Stony Brook slips to 17-8 overall and 12-2 in conference action. Vermont would gain the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament if they win out in conference play.
