North Carolina A&T-Delaware State

Postby BYUfan1 » Tue Jan 31, 2012 11:39 pm

The Delaware State Hornets utilized a deliberate offense and a strong defense to defeat the North Carolina A&T Aggies 56-41. The Aggies only made four field goals in the second half and were held to no field goals in the final 13:21 of the game. In that time span, the Aggies missed 16 shots and turned the ball over six times. The Aggies shot just 27.5% (14-51) from the field and 2-of-17 from 3-point range. Adrian Powell scored 17 points and registered 8 rebounds for the Aggies. He was the only player for North Carolina A&T to score more than 6 points in the game.

Freshman guard Tahj Tate led the way for the Hornets with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Tyshawn Bell made 4 of 8 attempts from beyond the arc to account for his 12 points in the game. Coming into the game, the Hornets led the MEAC in blocked shots at 6.9 per game and had 12 blocks against the Aggies. Kendall Gray had 5 blocks, and Marques Oliver had 4 blocks to go along with his 6 points.

Before the loss, the Aggies (10-13, 5-3) had won five games in a row. Delaware State has now won three games in a row and move its record to 7-11 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
