Texas Tech-Cal State Bakersfield

Postby BYUfan1 » Wed Dec 28, 2011 10:49 am

Freshman forward Jordan Tolbert had another strong performance for Texas Tech as the Red Raiders defeated the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners 74-58. Tolbert tied his career and season high with 27 points. He also had 6 rebounds on the night. This game marked the fourth game in a row that Tolbert scored at least 20 points in the game. Texas Tech led at the half 31-27, but a layup by Issiah Grayson put the Roadrunners up 37-36 with 17:10 to go in the game. Soon after that play, the Red Raiders started to play better defense while making several 3-point baskets to take over the game. Texas Tech shot 24-40 (60%) from the field and made 7 of their 14 attempts from long distance.

Along with Tolbert's strong performance, Javerez Willis had 16 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals for the Red Raiders. Terran Petteway came off the bench to go 2-of-3 from long distance on his way to scoring 9 points. Stephon Carter led Cal State Bakersfield with 17 points and 3 steals. Donald Johnson scored 13 points while one missing one shot from the field and grabbed 4 boards in the losing effort.
