Boston College-Sacred Heart

Freshman center Dennis Clifford scored 16 points and blocked 3 shots before fouling out to lead the Boston College Eagles to a 83-73 win over the Sacred Heart Pioneers. To help BC's cause, Oregon transfer Matt Humphrey contributed 18 points and 2 steals. Freshman forward Ryan Anderson had 13 points and 7 boards for the Eagles.
Shane Gibson had a spectacular first half to keep the Pioneers close at halftime 41-35. For the game, Gibson scored 25 points, including shooting 8-of-12 from the field and 5-of-7 from 3-point range. Evan Kelley had 12 points and 3 steals in the losing effort for Sacred Heart.
Both teams shot well in the game as BC was 26-47(55.3%) from the field and 11-22 from long distance while Sacred Heart was 27-53(50.9%) and 8-17(47.1%) beyond the arc.
