The Texas Tech Red Raiders scored the first 17 points of the game and cruised from there to defeat the Grambling State Tigers 87-59. The Tigers did not make their first basket until there was 14:19 left in the first half. The Red Raiders shot 48.5% (32-66) from the field while Grambling State shot 30.4% (17-56). What Grambling State shot tonight was actually an upgrade from the 27.7% shooting the team entered the game with. If poor shooting wasn't enough, the Tigers turned the ball over 24 times while only gathering 7 assists in the game.
Freshman forward Jordan Tolbert had 22 points and 7 rebounds for the Red Raiders. Luke Adams was hot from 3-point range early in the game and finished with 15 points. Xavier Rogers made 7 of his 17 shots, including 5-of-11 from long range to lead the Tigers in scoring with 19 points. 7' center Peter "PJ" Roberson had 14 points. 15 rebounds, and 3 blocks in the losing effort for Grambling State.
