Butler-Savannah State

Postby BYUfan1 » Tue Nov 22, 2011 12:44 pm

The Butler Bulldogs trailed at the half 20-17 but used the 1-3-1 zone to defeat the Savannah State Tigers 57-42. Neither team could make that many baskets in the first half, and the Tigers scored just 6 points in the first 14 minutes of the second half. Butler could have finished the game with even a bigger margin of victory but made just 20 of their 36 free throws attempts in the game. Roosevelt Jones provided the spark for the Bulldogs and was oftentimes the best player on the floor for Butler. Jones finished the game with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals.

Rashad Hassan came into the game regarded as the Tigers' best player but scored just 10 points while committing 7 turnovers. Point guard Preston Blackmon had 2 assists with 5 turnovers but did have 13 points in the game.

Butler won the game, and that is a good thing, but the best part of the game was that former Bulldog Gordon Hayward was a guest color analyst in the game.
