Duke-Arizona

Postby BYUfan1 » Fri Mar 25, 2011 10:06 am

A one man show for a half turned into a total team effort as the Arizona Wildcats, the #5 seed in the West, came from behind to defeat the #1 seeded Duke Blue Devils 93-77. The Wildcats were down 44-38 at the half despite Derrick Williams scoring 25 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Williams went on to reach a career-high 32 points, but it was his teammates that keyed the victory. Williams scored just two points in a 19-2 run that featured strong defensive stands, drives to the basket, and points off the fast break. MoMo Jones showed everyone that Duke didn't have the only quality point guards in the game by scoring 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting and dishing out 6 assists. Solomon Hill contributed 13 points to the winning cause.

Kyle Singler got Duke off to a strong start but got in foul trouble in the second half. Singler finished the game with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Kyrie Irving scored 28 points in 31 minutes. Nolan Smith was only 3-of-14 from the floor, including no 3-point makes in 3 attempts. Arizona outrebounded Duke 40-27 in the game.
