Duke-Hampton

Postby BYUfan1 » Fri Mar 18, 2011 6:07 pm

The Duke Blue Devils went up 7-0 and never looked back in a 87-45 rout of the Hampton Pirates. Duke dominated the boards right from the beginning, and the Pirates struggled shooting from the outside. Kyrie Irving came off the bench to lead Duke in scoring with 14 points. He looked rusty and nervous when he first entered the game but settled in nicely. The Plumlee brothers combined for 20 points and 18 rebounds. Andre Dawkins deserves notice for his 5-of-10 shooting from the floor and his 13 points. Nobody from Hampton cracked double figures. The normally high-scoring tandum of Darrion Pellum and Kwane Morgan II combined to score 12 points and shoot 4-of-19 from the floor and 1-of-9 from 3-point range.
