UNC Greensboro had four players score in double figures but that was not enough to defeat the Catamounts as Western Carolina won 75-70. In the first half, UNCG were down by as many as twelve points. Every time the Spartans would rally to make the game close or tie the score, Western Carolina would answer with a rally of its own. In the game, Western Carolina had 22 offensive rebounds.

The Catamounts were led by Brandon Giles who had 20 points and 6 rebounds. Richie Gordon provided Western Carolina with a inside presence and tallied 11 points. Freshman point guard Kyle Randall has 20 points and 9 rebounds for the Spartans. Ben Stywall had 12 points and 9 rebounds in the losing effort to go with 11 points for Kendall Toney and 13 points for Mikko Koivisto.
