Vermont-UMBC

Postby BYUfan1 » Fri Feb 05, 2010 10:37 pm

In a game where the referees must have been paid by the foul, Vermont defeated UMBC 79-60. There were 39 made field goals in the game, and the two teams combined to sink 52 of 71 free throws. Garvey Young had his first double-double of his career with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Ex-Michigan State Spartan Maurice Joseph helped the Catamounts cause with 13 points. Vermont had a halftime lead of 37-27 without leading scorer Marqus Blakeley even taking a shot. Blakeley finished with 13 points, making 9-of-11 free throws. In a losing effort, Chris De La Rosa had 18 points and four assists for the Retrievers. Vermont is now 17-8 and 8-3 in the America East. UMBC falls to 2-21 and 1-9 in the conference.
