Postby BYUfan1 » Sun Feb 16, 2014 7:10 am

Jeff Mullahey scored 27 points to lead the Troy Trojans to a 85-81 upset victory over the Georgia State Panthers. The Trojans ended the Panthers 14-game winning streak and their seven-game road winning streak. Mullahey shot 8-of-12 from the field, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range. He entered the game averaging just 8.5 points per game. The Panthers were down 13 points with 12:03 to play in the second half. A rally by Georgia State tied the game at 75 with 2:41 remaining in the contest. Troy ended the game on a 10-6 run, making six free throws down the stretch. The Panthers entered the game shooting 77.8% from the free throw line, third best in the nation. However, Georgia State was just 18-26 (69.2%) against Troy. R.J. Hunter registered 26 points for the Panthers in the losing effort. Hunter became the second fastest player to reach 1,000 points in school history. In support of Mullahey, Tevin Calhoun tallied 20 points and 11 rebounds. Troy is now 9-15 and 4-8 in conference play while Georgia State slips to 17-7 and 10-1 in the Sun Belt.
