Vermont-New Hampshire

Postby BYUfan1 » Tue Jan 21, 2014 1:03 am

The Vermont Catamounts overcame a lackluster first half to defeat the New Hampshire Wildcats 57-40. The Catamounts were down 35-24 with 15:42 left in the second half when they took over the game with a 19-0 run. Freshman Kurt Steidl scored 13 of his 16 total points in the second half to lead the comeback. New Hampshire shot 52.4% (11-21) in the first half but just 18.2% (4-22) in the second half. Although Vermont only shot 35.5% percent from the field in the second half after just 30.4% in the first half, Vermont made 10 of 11 free throws and five of nine shots from long range in the second half. Brian Voelkel collected 15 rebounds on his way of becoming the leading rebounder in Catamount history. Vermont is now 11-8 overall and 5-0 in conference play while New Hampshire falls to 3-15 overall and 1-4 in America East play.
