The Kent State Golden Flashes scored the first seven points of the overtime session and went on to defeat the Northern Illinois Huskies on the road 73-64. Both teams struggled shooting as the Golden Flashes shot 38% for the game, and the Huskies shot 36.4%. Kris Brewer led the way for Kent State with 25 points while Derek Jackson, a transfer from Central Michigan chipped in with 14 points and 4 assists. Aaron Armstead registered 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Huskies. The Golden Flashes are now 11-5 and 2-1 in conference play as NIU falls to 1-2 in the MAC and 7-8 for the season.
