Virginia Tech
Spread +6.5
Payout +220

The article I read about betting stated that the spread was used to even an underdog with a better caliber team evening the odds of either side winning. The payout was to entice betters to bet one way or the other. If you guys have a good source of information or know where the discussion you guys had about this is I would appreciate the assistance and the knowledge.

You are correct as the initial line does hope to encourage action, and if too much is wagered on one side they will move the line to get players to wager on the other side. For the bookie, In an ideal world the amount would be equal on both sides and the vig would be their profit.

Razor, are you going to tabulate the results? Bet no one over the CFB season (13 weeks) picks better than 56/57%!
The preceding statements are solely the opinion of GoBoilers and are, therefore, probably not based whatsoever on fact, research or more time in thought than what was required to physically type them. They're probably correct anyway, so you shouldn't argue too much, because otherwise he'll just blather on forever. On the internet Al Gore invented.

Yes, I will be tabulating the results, as I have built a very modest spreadsheet to do this. I agree on your pct prediction. Not sure who it was, but we had a poster that said he could pick 70% versus the spread, if he only picked the sure games. :D

I'm taking

California (favorite)
Western Michigan (U/D)
Penn State (favorite)

all against the spread
