CFP Trivia Challenge Question Game 13

Postby Spence » Wed May 24, 2006 7:04 pm

Per Billybud, question must be answered in this thread to win.

What college has their athletic teams named, indirectly, after two men?The teams are actually named after geographic features that are, in turn, named after two men.

Miami(Ohio)??? :D
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

Google may give you this answer, but it won't do it directly. This one might have the legs to make it the distance.

OK, when you say 'team names', you do mean like Florida State SEMINOLES, right? If so, I just Wikipedia'd all the freakin teams that made any sense and got nothing.

And we are talking I-A right?

And 'geographic features' is an appropriate term, correct?

Man, thanks a WHOLE BUNCH Spence for not answering the one question I needed to know (I-A or not). But since you didn't, I immediately looked for schools in lower divisions. (Eh, I was goin there anyways)

The ONLY thing I could come up with is Webster University. I'm not sure, because it doesn't say if the streets are named after people, but my guess is that they are.

It is correct, but loosely. I tried to come up with a better term, but I think that is as good as it gets without giving away the clue that takes you to the answer.

"The Gorlok, like the Hokie, is a made-up word. Approximately 20 years ago it was chosen by a campus committee trying to select a name for their athletics teams. They decided to go with the word gorlok. They cleverly took the street intersection from what’s referred to as “Old Websterâ€Â
