Teams go up and down and around and the makeup of that small group will change some....Sure, the Bearcats might win one but not in the next five years, I don't think.

I think that's the window, at this rate. Granted, it would probably take a fluke or two, but Brian Kelly can do it. All it would take is to notch a big win and run the Big East table. I don't think they'll do it this year, or the next, but I guess we'll see where the program stands as of 2010. I just have a good feeling that 2009 is the year they'll take the Big East.

Spence, I was only using a playoff for the LSU playing Hawaii's schedule hypothetical example you stated, nothing else, as I know how most feel on this board about a playoff. There are years a playoff might solve everything and there are years it might not. Same with the current PLAYOFF BCS system, with only two teams.

I would dismiss those with very high odds in favor of those with much shorter odds...give me a 9-3 team that plays six end ranked teams over an undefeated team that plays one team in the top 30...

I would probably take the 9-3 team too, but what do I know - I picked Oklahoma to beat Boise State in the Fiesta.

You are right about that, neither way will every solve the problem. You keep the current system and we all know those problems, go to another and create the same problems only further down the food chain. The big advantage to a playoff is more teams get to participate for the big prize (which I am not against). The big con for a playoff is that it will cost fans a bloody fortune trying to attend games, unless they regionalize the games. Then it would still suck playing football in the north in December. Not even teams that play in the north would like that - well except for Wisconsin - the cheeseheads lover the cold, wet, rainy weather. They have the antifreeze to keep the games fun.

Huh? Didn't know that. I only follow a little Missouri Valley in baseball because of Wichita State. I know they gave up football.

It seems odd to me, but Wichita State blames the plane crash in 1970 for the demise of their football program. They say it never recovered.

Has anyone mentioned Marshall to them??
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

We thought they would never end.
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days

Oh my friend we're older but no wiser
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same
“If short hair and good manners won football games, Army and Navy would play for the national championship every year.”
