I have my own and I would like to get some ideas of what you all do.

A few people here do their own. The site (CFP) does a computer ranking that is pretty accurate. We, being the board buddies, are not so accurate. We still have a pretty good time debating things. Welcome to CFP. :D

Hey there! I'm Matt, the head of this here forum. Welcome aboard.

To answer your question, this message board is the online community for College Football Poll.com, home of the Congrove Computer Rankings (declined-to-join-the-BCS-for-moral-reasons © 1997). The member on here who goes by 'CFP Admin' is the guy putting together the formula for that ranking. So he's one.

We also had one fan on here back in the day who ran his own poll, but he's long gone. He tended to think his poll was perfect, everyone else was wrong, and couldn't handle any criticism. But don't let that worry you. We always like to hear what everyone has to say about things, and if you want to put your poll up for some constructive criticism and discussion, be our guest.

We're all level-headed around here, and Spence, Eric, Dossenator and myself are here to make sure it stays that way. Should you have any questions just let us know.

Personally, I'm just too dumb for the line to bother me. Check my picks and you'll see that I am at least half-serious (about half right on my picks, too, to save you the trip).

I don't think that was an opinion on the board. I think it was asking about Donovan's reference to us in the post above his post.

Ahh - I believe I stand corrected.

See - I interpreted it as if he was asking if we're too dumb to do a computer poll. But, in retrospect, I think he was asking if we think computer polls are dumb. That would be entirely different, and render my intial reply as, well, dumb AND irrelevant.

If he were asking me if I'm too dumb to set up my own computer poll, that answer would be yes. I'm not doing real well with the one my maker installed.

Yes, welcome to the erudite message board of college football, collegefootballfanlemniscate. We like polls...we live by them...we discuss them. Some think Boise State should be ranked very high....those are inspired...other only list the SEC ..those are more popular...some concern with wins and losses...other make up reasons why losing is winning...in the end....and some...think they are reflective of abnormal toilet training.....

I saw a computer poll where Dell was ranked ahead of HP - and I had to laugh.

Yours is an inspired poll...good going....!!! 8) 8) Not that is matters...but how does an 8-0 Team..Hawaii..get left off the top 25???

collegefbfan8898 wrote:Right. I was not saying that anyone was dumb, just that some of you thought that umber crunching for the sake of a college football poll was dumb. My poll has no media bias, no helmet factor, etc. Just a simple formula that applies to each and every team.

I will send the formula later but my poll is (the VT win over GT is not considered yet):

1. Boston College (8-0) 0.6033
2. Ohio State (9-0) 0.5750
3. Kansas (8-0) 0.5663
4. Arizona State (8-0) 0.5509
5. Oregon (7-1) 0.5068
6. LSU (7-1) 0.4973
7. Oklahoma (7-1) 0.4138
8. Connecticut (7-1) 0.4063
9. Missouri (7-1) 0.3980
10. West Virginia (7-1) 0.3822
11. South Florida (6-2) 0.3732
12. Boise State (7-1) 0.3676
13. Georgia (6-2) 0.3198
14. Alabama (6-2) 0.3188
15. Virginia Tech (6-2) 0.3008
16. Clemson (6-2) 0.2848
17. Michigan (7-2) 0.2800
18. Purdue (7-2) 0.2790
19. Cincinnati (6-2) 0.2602
20. Wake Forest (6-2) 0.2212
21. Texas (7-2) 0.2142
