Ticked!
I'm beside myself, and thats' hard to do, given how uncoordinated I am in general.

CF, the best the Mountain West can do is get to 50%. There's a reason why they aren't going to win, I think they are mathematically eliminated!

Eric, well the MWC did get 50% of the games they played in, not great,. but not terrible either, all things considered.
Point of comparison, with teh Big Ten, for example, MWC 'wins'.

Where are the PAC-10 fans? I just love it that two years in a row there was a PAC-10 team that was robbed for not getting into the game, and both years a much underrated team from the BIG12 who was supposed to get stomped, ended up winning. I'm going to have to see a therapist after rooting for Oklahoma. Any of the people that can't stand Texas, hope they lose tomorrow, cause if they do, you definitely won't see me on here anymore. If they win, I'll be relentless. My biggest fear is that we'll win or lose because of bad officiating, which has been a constant this bowl season. Refs really shouldn't decide a football game.

The Holiday Bowl is a perfect example of why the Pac Ten isn't that good, in general. The evidence is pretty overwhelming, I thnk.

Drum roll please... And the winners are...

The ACC and The Big 12!!!

ACC: 5-3 (.625)
Big Ten: 5-3 (.625)

Just for fun I will decide the true winner by seeing who gave up less points.

The true winner is...

The BIG TEN!!!: 188 POINTS ALLOWED
The ACC: 190 POINTS ALLOWED

The Big Ten won the Conference Challenge by winning the points allowed tie-breaker 188-190!!! The ACC is the runner-up.

The only Big 10 teams that won were Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Penn St.
Michigan, Minnesota, Northwestern, and Iowa lost their bowl games. The B-10 didn't win.

My bad I meant Big 12. here is the correct final standings:

ACC: 5-3 (.625)
Big 12: 5-3 (.625)

The true winner is

The Big TWELVE: 183 POINTS ALLOWED
The ACC: 190 POINTS ALLOWED

The Big Twelve won the Conference Challenge by winning the points allowed tie-breaker 183-190!!! The ACC is the runner-up.

Spence,
If you look at the second sentence on the old post it says Big 12. Somehow, I goofed by putting Big Ten on the rest of the page. My bad.

I agree, the Big Ten didn't live up to it's expectations this year. By the way, congratulations on OSU beating the Irish. I was rooting for the Buckeyes all the way.

I can understand why people doubted the Big 12, Texas man-handled all of their conference opponents that it made them look bad. But the Big 12 was well-represented. Look for Nebraska to beat USC early in the season.

With respect to the 'winning' conference, shouldn't the tie-breaker be point-differential? After all, a team could conceivable score 50 points (Hawaii Bowl, for example) and lose. But wouldn't point differential be a better guage as to the dominance (or lack thereof) by a conference?
Or even better, use head-to-head comparisons.
(ie, Colorado lost to Clemson). Just an idea.
