Actually, I am a Michigan fan...

1...because they hate Ohio State

2...my Dad was a Mich grad who despised OSU and I had to be a Michigan fan (although I went to FSU). Dad has now passed on but watching the Maize and Blue during the season renews that bond that death really doesn't diminish. I miss the old man especially in the fall.

If your Dad hated Ohio State he was a true Michigan Man. Mine was a Ohio State guy, he is gone also. Glad to see he has someone to argue the 10 year war with up there.

As a conference the Big 10 is 174-98-5 against the ACC

The B-10 "big 3" against the ACC are as follows...

Ohio State 14-7 lifetime including 3 games with Fla. St. ('81, '82, '97) where they owned Ohio State.

Michigan 23-4 including 6 wins against Duke

Penn State 89-21 lifetime against the ACC although most of the games were before Penn St. joined the B-10.

All these stats are vs. teams currently both conferences. The source I used is college football warehouse.

Try doing it the other way, selecting Big Ten teams.

The Big Ten won the head-to-head 13-12. While insignificant, the edge still goes to the Big Ten.

Post your source link for your data...

Of the "Winningest Teams of the 1990's"...three of the top 25 were ACC (Five of the current members make that list)...

Three Big Ten teams make the list.

The winningest teams of the 2000's have five current ACC teams vs three B-10

That's a make up of the current membership vs the current membership. I'm talking only about teams that were actually in the conference and contributing to it. In that respect, the Big Ten leads 62-43-2.

That would be correct.

I can't speak for other athletic sites, but Ohio State's athletic site isn't very good on stats. It has a lot wrong on it.

What's "right" then? Ohio State's only problems in their yearly schedule list is that they have a few home/visitors messed up. The detail section of most teams site are not only mostly accurate, they are the official record.

Ohio State's athletic department does keep accurate stats, it just that the athletic site isn't very well done. There are several Buckeye historians that do a much better job of publishing the history and stats of Ohio State.

Buckeye fans have been on the athletic dept. to correct the mistakes, hopefully they will care enough to get it done one of these days.

Found something of note in Billybud's posting.

3 teams were ranked in the top-12 in the 2000s. Boise St.(#4), Toledo(#11) and TCU(#12). Louisville (#10) was the highest ranked Big East representative. Marshall (#25) was the highest ranked C-USA representative.

A closer examination also reveals other 'non-BCS' teams listed among the 'best' in the 2000s .

Fresno St. (21), Miami, OH (22), N. Illinois (23), and Utah (23).

Another point of note is how each confernece (with the exception of the Sun-Belt) is represented, 'multiple' times (2, anyway). I'm including Louisville as a 'C-USA' representative, they were C-USA, most of the 2000s.

All this weighed together, suggests that the 'competitive' gap is lessening.
I'm sure someone could post a list that likely doesn't include those teams.
Nevertheless, it is one way to assess how teams compare relative to each other.

I don't know if I agree completely, but the B-10 as a whole wasn't very good in the 1990's. Ohio State in the Cooper era was vastly over-rated, that is why he isn't here anymore.
