Coaches helping coaches

Postby Spence » Sun Apr 02, 2006 11:02 am

Mountainman, here is a good article about Rick Trickman and Rich Rodriguez helping the other coaches. I know coach Tressel has done this since coming to Ohio State. He went to Miami before the 2002 season to learn from Miami's staff. Last year he traveled to Norman, Oklahoma to learn some things from Coach Stoops. This is something that I think is a really good part of CFB. Not only helping other D-1 coaches, but also some of the smaller college coaches make the game better.

Yep, that's good stuff. I know the Mountaineer staff returns the favor by traveling to other schools to see how there team's stuff works. They have visited Coach Tressel and his staff on numerous occasions.

It happens in other areas of the program too. One example is that, in addition to the football side of things, the West Virginia administrative side of the program looks to programs like Oklahoma and Nebraska for ways to better operate in a state with small populations.

To me, this is a good example of just how these guys are working to make the game better and for the good of the game.

I agree. I know Mack Brown helped Joe Paterno and staff to 21st. century football last year and Jopa returned the favor by letting Brown know what to expect from Ohio State. Also letting him know how to manage the first trip into the 'Shoe. It is good that the coaches understand that they can always learn something. If Paterno can learn anything from anyone, considering his service to the game, no one is above the fray. It advances the game.

Yeah. I wish someone would do the same for GA's def coordinator.
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.
