Ugliest Game of Season

Postby Eric » Sun Apr 02, 2006 1:10 am

Looking at some of these games...................Big ouch. Take your pick:

Boston College vs. Maine
Wake Forest vs. Liberty
Miami vs. Florida A&M
Rutgers vs. Howard
Minnesota vs. North Dakota State
Purdue vs. Indiana State
Wisconsin vs. Western Illinois
Kansas State vs. Illinois State
Nebraska vs. Nicholls State
Texas Tech vs. Southeast Louisiana State
Marshall vs. Hofstra
UCF vs. Villanova
Houston vs. Grambling State
Colorado State vs. Weber State
Arizona vs. Stephen F. Austin
Arizona State vs. Northern Arizona
Cal vs. Portland State
Oregon vs. Portland State
Georgia vs. Western Kentucky
South Carolina vs. Wofford
Arkansas vs. South East Missouri State
Troy vs. Alabama State
Hawaii vs. Eastern Illinois
New Mexico State vs. Texas Southern
Boise State vs. Sacramento State
Temple vs. Louisville
Temple vs. Minnesota
Temple vs. Clemson
Temple vs. Penn State
Temple vs. Navy
Temple vs. TBA ( )

If I've gotta pick...........I'd take Minnesota and North Dakota State. The Bison also play Ball State, but that wouldn't be near the beating the Gophers will put on NDSU.

I dont remember Georgia playing Western Kentucky.... :D
They’re either going to run the ball here or their going to pass it.

The fewer rules a coach has, the fewer rules there are for players to break.

See, well ya see, the thing is, he should have caught that ball. But the ball is bigger than his hands.

This is typical Glen Mason scheduling. Everyone wonders why Minnesota looks so good at the beginning of the year and then they fade. They don't fade, they just make sure they have 3 or 4 automatics at the beginning of the year. That way if they can squeek out a couple conference wins they are bowl eligible. That is why Ohio State didn't consider Mason. He aways wants to take the easy way. The easy way doesn't win you national championships or conference championships.

Im gonna say Miami will literally kill Florida A&M.....

In fact, the 2nd or 3rd string players will be in before halftime.......

Purdue/Indiana State

Indiana State had what may be the worst scholarship I-AA team in history.

Both North Dakota State and Florida A&M are not bad teams, although Florida A&M is hitting probation and that could affect them.

Oh, they lost to St. Francis 42-10. I believe that St. Francis is an NAIA school, isn't it?

Yes, I can't track down the last time an NAIA school beat a scholarship I-AA school prior to that. It was before 1998. To be fair, St. Francis is a good NAIA school, but NAIA schools just don't beat scholarshiop I-AA schools.

I'm going to have to go with University of Texas vs Sam Houston State.

That's going to be as bad as the Big 12 championship game

I think the two ugliest games will be:

Indiana State vs. Purdue and
Nicholls State vs. Nebraska

Now, if someone said one of these games is going to be a huge upset which one do you think it would most likely be? I think I'd have to go with Illinois State and Kansas State.

None of these are remotely close to happening, but the most likely would be Hofstra and Marshall. Marshall didn't play well against William & Mary I think, and Hofstra isn't an automatic victory. I think Marshall will be a solid team this year, but I think the Pride can win it when Hell freezes over.

Look for the Thundering Herd to get back on track this season. :D

Coach Synder had considerable house cleaning to do. He came into a program about this time last season that had gotten itself in trouble.

Some coaches are gone, some players are gone, the NCAA sanctions are gone and some over zealous boosters are gone.

Synder has the first full compliment of scholarships since the sanctions by the NCAA and it appears he is using them wisely to fix some current problems, while building some depth and for the future.

I think that Marshall will be bowling, Jimmy Skinner, who filled in against Southern Miss in a losing effort (fantastic catch by the way, I'll never forget that), will be the starter (or at least he should be) because he looked very promising. Marshall will kill Hofstra, but it's the closest matchup available on this list.

Who knows? UC Davis beat Stanford last year (Cardinal =  :x )
