Coach Synder went on a national search to find a kicker. He has hopefully found what he was looking for at a junior college out in California. Before spring practice Coach Synder had told the kid of the kicking woes the team experienced and everybody was anxious to see him kick.
When the signal for special teams practice was sounded during the session, all the TV guys, reporters and photography guys, as well as all the people in the stands watching practice surrounded the kid. The kid was shocked and, being from California and thus being a little free spirited, asked, "What's is going on?" Once they explained it to him, he's reported to have said, "Cool." He then went out and began booming kicks of 40+ yards right between the uprights. Everybody started cheering so the kid goes over and tells them, "I'll do even better once we get our timing down."
He's never made a point for the Herd, but is already a media darling.
