…….. so I’ve heard. After reading this article a thought mysteriously came to me.

‘Why not have ‘flexible scheduling’ during the regular season?

The problem with what Pettiti is saying, here ...

Is that he wants to give second and third chances to teams from his conference that would have otherwise lost their way out of the playoff picture.

4 Big Ten
4 Sec
2 ACC
2 Big XII
+4 ND/Other

He is making a claim that this model is based on Historical Strength.

He is also ignoring the reality that Strength often times shifts. And with NIL + Collective Bargaining Rights Cap, all leagues would be on a Level Field with regards to talent acquisition.

Let's be honest.

He is literally just trying to stuff the ballot box in front of your face.

Agreed…….. Conference Commissioners should not be running College Football, they should be running their conferences. The pitfall of having the Commissioners managing College Football is that it creates a Conflict of Interest, as we’re currently are experiencing. To paraphrase what we call it here in the hills and hollers, ‘You don’t hire the Fox to guard the henhouse’

Instead, College Football should be managed by a higher level of management.

My suggestion to the BIG Commissioner about ‘flexible scheduling’ was provide a way to determine which of his conference’s teams are indeed ‘The Best’.

The problem he’s dealing with is his position on multiple ‘guaranteed’ spots in the CFP, he does not trust the CFP Selection Committee……. even though Ohio State, after having “the toughest row to hoe” (another saying in these here hills and hollers) won a National Title a couple of years ago as a 2 loss regular season team.

This wouldn’t be a thing if someone was in charge of the commissioners. If the commissioners were part of the same body under one boss. All tv and stuff negotiated by someone for the group and not the individual or individual conference. Someone in charge of making and enforcing the rules.

We’re on the same page on this, and that means, sadly, the Federal Government absorbing the NCAA and making it a Federal Agency that governs, not just football, all College Athletics, else the States will pass self serving laws and the conferences and the teams will make self serving rules and do whatever they want.

A level playing field…… so to speak.
