At least, that is the discussion they're having ...

A 14 team playoff starting in 2026.

Why not go to 16 ..?

Well, they do not have their preferred Two Major conference divide yet.

The proof is in the print.

The Big 10 and SEC are looking for a concession that would see both conferences with 4 auto bids each, as the rest fall into place.

If they get the two Conference division they want, then it'll just become 8/8 for 16.

We know this is where it is heading. They should quit dilly dallying around.

Maybe the issue is which teams will be taken into which mega conference, and who'll be kicked to the curb.

Cause not everybody left is getting a seat at the table.

College Football is now ALL ABOUT brands, markets and the pot of gold. Gotta have the brand to access the markets to grab a chunk of the pot of gold.

So one might ask oneself what ‘markets’ were the SEC and the BIG after when they expanded??? Answer: Obviously, television gold AND more importantly, recruiting gold.

I read an article about where a bunch of G5 Coaches were complaining about losing players to the P4 schools through the portal and NIL dollars, and saying G5 is now nothing more than a ‘Minor League’ that supplies players to the P4. I chuckled and just shook my he when a G5 Coach said something like, ‘If you’ve got a 6’ 5” lineman who can chew bubblegum and walk at the same time, you won’t have him long.’

Yep……. he is, guess we’re at a place where the thinking is ‘Why build a team when you can buy a team?’ 8)
